Finn's Island Project
To get ready for this trip, Finn has been working all year at school on the Island Project. This is an interdisciplinary project at his school (Woodinville Montessori) that combines history, research, creative writing, construction, art, and more. Finn chose Italy as his location, which meant he got to invent a fictitious island off the coast of Italy, name it, make a three-dimensional map of it, and create an entire culture that was consistent with the environment of that area. Architeuthis Island is in the Tyrrhenian Sea and has a culture based around respect for squids. This will come as no surprise to those of you who know of Finn's long-standing fascination with these cephalopods. Some photos of Finn's project are included here, and his creation story will be included in a separate post.
