For our last day in Venice, Finn decided he wanted to take a
ferry to Murano, an island known for its glassworks. We watched a glassblowing demonstration and
went into many galleries and stores. We
found out that Murano is considered to be part of Venice, and does in fact share
the “no
cars, lots of bridges” sense in Venice proper.
We did a little shopping and had some fine pizza at Osteria al
Duomo. On the way back to Venice, we
stopped at San Michele, aka “Cemetery Island.” The whole island is just one big cemetery,
with (I think) two churches on it. We wandered and wandered around this
gigantic place before heading back.
As our final Italian activity, we decided to go on a hunt for the
best gelato in Venice (as described by Trip Advisor), a place called Gelateria
Millefoglie in the San Polo neighborhood not far from our hotel. The last gelato! [sigh]
